ABOUT ME

My fitness journey started in 2017 when I recognised that my health and wellbeing was being neglected due to the pressures of having a young family and working from home. I was overweight and suffering from excruciating back pain due to an old skiing injury and years of working in IT carrying heavy equipment. Being obese made every day activities much more exhausting and my polycystic ovary syndrome felt out of control. Mentally I was not in a good place and something had to change. I knew only I could make it happen but was full of anxiety at the thought of exercising, especially as my body had been through a punishing few years of fertility struggles, two traumatic ectopic pregnancies and two c-sections.
I signed up to an outdoor circuit class and although I loved being outdoors and the social aspect, I hated how difficult the exercises felt. Slowly I started to see and feel the improvements in my fitness. As I grew more confident I started working out on my own, introducing different forms of cardio and weight training to keep my body challenged. I continued to lose fat and my fitness levels improved dramatically. People started to comment on how great I looked and that really spurred me on, especially when I received messages to say I was inspiring them to start exercising. Improving my fitness and losing five stone has totally changed my life. I no longer suffer from the back pain that once plagued me and I feel fitter, stronger and happier than ever before. I finally feel like my PCOS is under control (although I still struggle with some of the symptoms) and In June 2019 I completed Total Warrior, a 12k course with 25 obstacles which is one of my proudest fitness achievements to date.
I qualified to become a Personal Trainer because I feel like a different person with so much energy and I want to inspire and help you to embrace a healthier lifestyle. My business name BraveHeart Fitness & Wellbeing was not only chosen because I'm Scottish (from Edinburgh), but because I recognise that it takes a huge amount of bravery to take that first step.
If I can do it, you can too. Trust me, together we can achieve amazing things!
